A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings By Gabriel García Márquez

A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings By Gabriel García Márquez is a very fantastical story. It is about a very old angel that came to take a sick child, but when retrieving the child he fell due to a storm. The family then kept the angel in captivity and had people pay to see him. This story made me pity the angel, people were treating him so poorly. He was locked in a chicken coop and sat there all day while people pulled out his feathers and threw rocks at him. One time someone burned the side of the angel just to see if he would move. Then a woman who was turned into a gigantic spider stole all the attention way from the angel. The now healthy child grew up with him. The angel became healthier, and started to grow back his feathers...until one day he flew away. This came as a relief for the family, and they were happy the angel was free. There were some confusing sentences in the story, and some words I had to look up. It was a very interesting read, I was never bored. I definitely recommend it!

Questions:

1. The angel was trying to hide the fact he was growing crow feathers, does this mean he is turning into a dark angel?

2. Did the angel actually have any healing power?

3. Why didn't they set the angel free after he was crushed by a giant spider?
